What Is AS 2047?
AS 2047 is the Australian Standard for windows and external glazed doors in buildings. Our windows, and our sliding, bifold and casement doors, are supplied to AS 2047. They're also supplied to AS 1288, the Standard for choosing and fitting glass. Certification is available on request.

What Each Standard Covers
| Standard | What it covers | What it means for your windows |
|---|---|---|
| AS 2047 | Windows and external glazed doors in buildings | The window or glass door itself |
| AS 1288 | Choosing and fitting glass in buildings | Where safety glass must go, such as doors and glass close to the floor |
| AS/NZS 2208 | Safety glass in buildings | The safety glass itself, such as laminated glass |
| AS 4666 | Insulating glass units | The sealed double glazed panes |
Supplied To A Standard, And Asking For Certification
Supplied to a Standard means the product is supplied to that Standard's requirements where they apply to your job. Which Standards apply depends on the window, the glass and where it goes, so that's confirmed on your quote.
Certification for all four Standards is available, and project-specific documentation is supplied on request. Ask for it when you get your quote.
Pivot Front Doors
Our pivot doors are handmade, from our entry door collection. For a pivot door, the compliance, sizing, hardware and installation needs are confirmed on your quote. Here's more on our pivot doors.
Standards And Heritage Rules Are Different
A Standard covers the product: the window, the door and the glass. A heritage overlay is a council planning rule that protects how older buildings and streets look.
A home under a heritage overlay usually needs a council permit to replace windows, whatever Standard the windows are supplied to. Your council can tell you if your home has one.
Safety Glass, Builders And The Windows Themselves
Safety glass and AS 1288 come up again in our guide to glass options for double glazing. Builders can read how we handle project documents for builders and owner-builders.
For the windows themselves, see our double glazed windows and double glazed doors.
