What Is A Sliding Window?
A sliding window has one pane, called a sash, that slides sideways past a fixed pane on a track. Nothing swings out, so it suits windows onto paths, decks and verandahs. Ours are double glazed aluminium in the ML86 residential and ML102 commercial series, with a Siegenia Aubi handle from Germany as standard. We measure every sliding window ourselves before our team fits it, anywhere in Melbourne's south and east.
Quick Facts
- We supply them in the ML86 and ML102 series.
- The standard handle is a Siegenia Aubi from Germany.
- Our fly screens are stainless steel mesh.

A Ballpark From Your Photos
Send your window and door count, your suburb and a few photos. We work out a rough price on the size of your windows in square metres.
Supplied To AS 2047 And AS 1288
Our windows are supplied to AS 2047 and AS 1288, and certification is available on request.
See How A Sliding Window Opens
Drag the slider or press the button. The top drawing is the window from inside, and the one under it is the same window from above.
- 01
It Runs On A Track
The sliding pane, called a sash, moves sideways along a track in the frame.
- 02
One Pane Moves Past The Other
The sash slides sideways past the pane next to it.
- 03
Nothing Swings Out
So it suits windows onto paths, decks and verandahs.
Sliding Windows Over Fixed Panes
A sliding window can sit over or beside fixed panes, which are glass that doesn't open. In the photo, the top row is the sliding window and the two lower panes are fixed.
Fixed panes let you put more glass in a wall without adding more parts that open.
Two Series Of Sliding Window
These catalogue photos show a corner of each frame cut open. Neither series has a thermal break, an insulating strip through the frame.

Your Choice Of Glass
You choose the glass. Low-E glass has a thin coating that reflects heat, and argon filled glass has a heavy gas sealed in the gap between the panes. Laminated glass holds together if it breaks, acoustic glass is laminated with a layer that damps sound, and tinted glass cuts glare. Our guide to glass options for double glazing explains each one.
Stainless Steel Fly Screens
Our fly screens are stainless steel mesh, stronger than standard fly screen mesh.
How The Price Is Worked Out
Sliding windows are priced on their size in square metres. Send us how many you have, your suburb and a few photos for a ballpark. Our double glazing cost guide explains how the price is worked out.
